Linkway

Abstraction - Linkway

The soft, dreamlike quality of pinhole images already shifts perception, making the familiar feel slightly ethereal. Using the slow, meditative process of pinhole photography leads to a different way of viewing what would usually be an uninteresting subject. I’ve found the lack of certainty quite a liberating and exciting way to make pictures, taking away some usual standards of modern photography, and becoming a creative experiment, making landscapes, buildings and objects appear unfamiliar.

With this image, transforming the Linkway multi-story carpark into an abstraction on the landscape disrupts its useful identity as a piece of utilitarian architecture. Instead of a recognisable structure, it becomes something more surreal like a geometric intrusion, or a ghostly presence within the Harlow urban landscape.
